RACES

 ULTIMATE BEAST  (10KM)

April 17th 2021
Wave start from: 1200hrs

A 10km course with 25 obstacles that will push you to your limits. And with prize money up for grabs for our top-placed male and female elite athletes, the competition really gets real.

The course starts in front of the Mount Maunganui Surf Club. After a soft-sand start, you'll continue around Mauao’s 3-kilometre base track in an anticlockwise direction.

You'll come back to the main beach where your obstacles begin. After some sand-based obstacles, you'll collect a sandbag at the bottom of Mount Drury and carry it to the summit and back. You’ll then continue to complete obstacles as you head away from the Mount.

Fail to complete an obstacle ... our race officials will direct you to a penalty box where you'll complete an alternative task before rejoining the race.

Unique to the 10km course, we have a 500m out-and-back jerry can march at the edge of the sand dunes near Banks Avenue, which takes you past the course halfway point.

You’ll then head down onto the beach where you’ll complete multiple obstacles as you head back towards Mauao.

The course passes the surf club and then takes on the base track for a second time.

As you are cheered back onto the Main Beach, don't think you're done just yet! Just two more obstacles in the soft sand . . . and then you're done!
